When to mark absent
Use Mark Absent when the worker did not work for the timesheet period and the timesheet is still pending. The action is available from the Pending tab bulk menu for company or project users and from the detail page where the timesheet can be amended.
Standard absence reasons
When WRA accommodation does not apply, select Holiday, Sick, Worked at another project, or Other. If Other is selected, comments are required.
WRA absence
When WRA accommodation applies, the dialog requires Authorised absence or Unauthorised absence instead of the standard reason. The dialog explains whether the company pays for that absence type and whether the WRA accommodation amount will be set to zero.
Blocked records
Approved, pending-approval, already absent, and invoiced timesheets cannot be marked absent. The API returns a clear error when a selected row is not eligible.
Bulk absence
Bulk Mark Absent applies the same absence reason or WRA absence choice to all selected eligible pending timesheets. If some records fail, the response identifies failures and reports the result.
Reinstate
Use Reinstate Timesheet from the detail page Actions menu when a timesheet is absent. Reinstating moves the timesheet back to pending so it can be amended or submitted for approval again.
For agencies: absence on your workers
Marking a timesheet absent is a hiring-company decision, so agencies do not usually mark absences themselves, but it affects what your workers are paid.
Mark Absent and Reinstate are company or project actions; agency users would not normally see them.
An absent timesheet means the worker is recorded as not having worked that period, so it will not be invoiced for hours.
When WRA accommodation applies, an authorised or unauthorised absence can reduce or zero the accommodation amount for affected days, which changes the value you can bill.
If you believe a worker's absence has been recorded incorrectly, raise it with the hiring team so they can reinstate the timesheet.
