Duplicating a requisition

When to duplicate a requisition, what is copied, and what to review before submitting

Written by Austin Brummer

When duplication is useful

Duplicate a requisition when you need to raise a similar requirement without re-entering project, trade, agency, rate, approval, and requirement details. Common use cases:

  • Repeat work for the same project and trade

  • Similar roles to a recent requisition

  • Recurring site requirements

  • Follow-on demand that is close to an existing requisition

How to duplicate

Start a duplicate from the project selection dialog when raising a new requisition:

If the source rates are hidden for you, the new requisition uses the current rate card. Hidden source overrides are not copied.

  1. Begin raising a new requisition.

  2. In the project selection dialog, choose Duplicate and select the source requisition.

  3. Wait for the form to load — each section is pre-filled as its dependent data finishes loading (suppliers, approvers, trades, rates, custom fields, and so on).

  4. Enter the start and end dates and review every copied field before submitting.

What fields are copied

Where they are still valid for the selected project, the following details are copied:

  • Project, site, and shift pattern

  • Quantity and requestor comments

  • Auto-assign setting

  • Project-costed classification, when the source stores it; review it against the current routing rules

  • Send-through-approval setting

  • Cost code, trade, pay type, and rate type

  • Rate override when the source charge still differs from the standard rate

  • Agencies (subject to restriction and amend-supplier permission)

  • Approvers, including stage approvers for multi-stage approval

  • Timesheet approvers

  • Hiring managers who still have requisition assignment permission

  • On-submission custom fields, tag, and work activity

What is not copied

Some fields are deliberately left blank or are not carried across at all:

  • Start and end dates — cleared so you set fresh dates for the new requirement

  • Fulfilment mode — left blank when shift-based requisitions are enabled so you make a fresh choice

  • Approval state, agency responses, and assigned workers

  • Existing comments, mentions, and activity history

  • Supplier selection when you do not have permission to amend the supplier list (falls back to the project's standard supplier configuration)

When copied values are skipped

Copied values still depend on current configuration and permissions. A copied value is silently skipped and must be re-selected when it is:

  • No longer available for the selected project

  • Restricted by company, project, or supplier rules

  • Inactive, deleted, or otherwise invalid

  • A rate override whose source charge now matches the standard rate, or whose pay or rate type is no longer available

What to review before submitting

Always review the duplicate before submitting. Pay particular attention to:

  • Start and end dates — must be entered for every duplicate

  • Quantity, site, trade, and work activity

  • Shift pattern and the required fulfilment mode choice

  • Agencies and approvers, including timesheet approvers and hiring managers

  • Rates, pay type, rate type, and any rate override

  • Cost code, custom fields, tag, and requestor comments
