Reviewing the Trades List

How to search, filter, open, and understand the Trades page

Written by Austin Brummer

Open the Trades page

The Trades page lists the trades available in the current company or selected company scope. If no trades have been added, the page shows actions to create or import trades when your permissions allow it.

Empty state

When there are no trades in scope and no filter is applied, the page shows an empty-state message. Users with trade create permission can start from New Trade or Import Trades directly from that state.

Search and paging

Use search to find trades by name. The list is paged and keeps page state when you open a trade and return to the list.

Clearing search

If search returns no results, clear the search term to reload the list for the current company or project context. Paging is reset when a new search or filter is applied.

Filters

Use the filter button to narrow the list. System Admin users can filter by company. All supported roles can filter by field, which matches the master trade category.

Field filter

The Field filter matches the master trade category linked to the trade, not the company-specific trade name. Use it when you want to review all company roles grouped under the same master category.

List columns

  • Name shows the company trade name. The subtitle shows the master trade category when available.

  • Company is shown to System Admin users.

  • Competency or certification requirements summarises linked competency matrix requirements. If the all-sector requirement set is empty but sector requirements exist, hover over No requirements to see the configured sectors. Use the eye icon to review all requirement sets when more detail is available.

  • Rates shows whether the trade has configured rates for company and project users. In a company-wide view, the indicator includes rates configured in any sector or project scope.

  • Trade tags are shown when at least one visible row has tags.

  • Active shows whether the trade is active or inactive.

Rates indicator

For company and project users, the Rates column shows whether the trade has rates available in the current context. A project view checks the applicable project or region and sector rate, while a company-wide view checks for a configured rate in any available scope. A missing rate indicator is a setup prompt: the trade may exist, but rate-driven workflows can still fail until rates are configured.

Requirement indicator

The competency requirement column shows a summary generated from linked competency matrices. If the all-sector requirement set has no requirements but one or more sector overrides do, hover over No requirements to see which sectors have requirements. If multiple requirement sets are available, or the requirement needs more room to explain, the eye icon opens the full requirements view.

Opening a trade

Select a row to open the trade detail page. Desk users use the list as a reference view and do not open trade detail from the row.

Company selection for desk users

Desk users choose a company at the top of the page. The list then loads active trades for that company.

When the list looks incomplete

  • Clear search and field filters.

  • Check whether you are viewing the expected company.

  • For desk users, check whether the missing trade is inactive.

  • For System Admin users, check whether the company filter is narrowing the list.

  • Check whether the trade was added under a different company-specific name.

For agencies: reviewing the list

If you work for an agency, the Trades list is a reference view of the hiring company's roles rather than something you manage.

  • Choose a hiring company at the top of the page; the list then loads that company's active trades.

  • You see active trades only, so inactive roles set up by the company do not appear.

  • The list is for reference, so agency users do not open the trade detail page or edit trades from the row.

  • If a trade you supply against is missing, confirm you have the correct company selected and ask the hiring company whether it is active.
