Managing Public and Custom Bank Holidays

Where hirers view regional public holiday dates and add, edit, or exclude custom bank holidays for projects

Written by Austin Brummer

Where to find the holiday calendar

Open the hiring company's detail page, select Config, then select Public Holidays at the top right. You can open it while viewing Rate uplifts; the button belongs to the company Config page.

Public Holidays shows the dates Requidex uses for the selected year and bank holiday region, including company custom holidays. It is also where hirers add their own holiday dates. The company Regions & Sectors section is for company classification and does not edit this calendar.

View the dates for a project region

  1. Check the Bank Holiday Region on the project's address. This is the holiday calendar the project uses.

  2. On the company's Config page, select Public Holidays.

  3. Choose the Year and the matching Region in the dialog. For example, choose 2026 and Scotland to view the Scottish dates configured for 2026.

  4. Review the Name, Date, Type, and Enabled or Disabled state. Public dates and custom dates appear together for the chosen region and year.

Add a custom holiday

  1. In Public Holidays, select Add Custom Holiday.

  2. Enter a Name and Date, then choose the bank holiday Region that should use the date.

  3. If the holiday should apply to only some projects, choose Include selected projects only and select those projects. To omit particular projects, choose Exclude selected projects and select them. Leave project selection empty to apply the custom date across projects using that region.

  4. Select Save. Return to the matching year and region to check that the new date appears as Custom.

Change or remove a date

Select the edit icon beside a Custom holiday to change its name, date, region, or project selection, or to delete it. Standard Public holidays have an Enabled or Disabled toggle instead. Disable a standard date if the company should not count it as a holiday for that region; you can enable it again later.

The Public Holidays dialog saves these changes through its own actions. Changing a holiday does not automatically recalculate timesheets that were already calculated; review affected timesheets if a date was wrong.

Bank holiday region versus company region

A project's Bank Holiday Region is part of its address and selects a holiday calendar such as Scotland. Company regions and sectors are separate project and rate classifications. To change which holiday calendar a project uses, update its Bank Holiday Region. To add or change dates within that calendar, use the company's Public Holidays dialog.

For agencies

The hiring company manages the project bank holiday region and its public and custom holiday dates. Agency users see the resulting holiday treatment in assignment and timesheet values. If a date or premium looks wrong, ask the hirer to check the project's Bank Holiday Region and the company's Public Holidays calendar, including any project inclusion or exclusion on a custom date.
