Before you start
Direct assignment creation is available from the Assignments page when your role has assignment creation permission. Use it when the worker should be assigned without first creating or using a requisition.

Fulfilment mode

Rates and shift pattern
The form previews the rate that will be used for the selected project, trade, agency, rate type, and pay type. Users with rate amendment permission can amend the rate before creating the assignment. The Shift Pattern tab lets you review or edit the shift pattern before saving.
Create the assignment
Create Assignment is enabled when the required fields are valid and the required reference data has finished loading. The new assignment is created through the assignment create endpoint and appears in the assignments list.
Import direct assignments
Company admins can use Import Assignments from the Assignments page actions menu to download the template and upload up to 50 standard direct assignments at a time. Imported rows use the same assignment creation validation as the manual form, including project, agency, worker, trade, dates, rate type, pay type, agency-project association, and rate card checks. The downloaded template includes separate lookup sheets for projects, sites, candidates, agencies, users, trades, umbrellas, and tags, with names and full IDs that can be copied into the import rows. The candidates sheet also includes worker reference to help identify the right candidate.
Project, agency, worker, approver, requestor, trade, rate type, pay type, start date, and end date are required.
Project, agency, worker, approver, requestor, trade, site, umbrella, and tag values must be full IDs copied from the template lookup sheets.
Worker must be the candidate ID. Worker reference on the candidates sheet is for identification only, and worker reference and worker NIN are fetched from the matched candidate automatically.
Worker ID is optional and can be supplied separately for timesheet matching. Accommodation can also be supplied on each row. Sector and region are taken from the selected project automatically.
Imported assignments are created in standard fulfilment mode only.
Rows are processed independently and any failed rows are shown with row numbers after import.
For agencies: direct assignments for your workers
Direct assignment creation is a hiring-company action, so agencies do not create direct assignments themselves. You become involved once a direct assignment names your agency and one of your workers.
A direct assignment that names your agency appears in your assignments list as a Pending assignment, marked as a direct assignment rather than coming from a requisition.
From there you manage it like any other placement — supplying documents, confirming the start where allowed, and tracking timesheets.
If details look wrong, raise it with the hiring team through comments rather than expecting to recreate the assignment.
